VE/LA arrives in Singapore this September

The Bangkok-born specialty coffee and matcha house expands into its third country with its first-ever airport café, located at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 1.

VE/LA, the Bangkok-born specialty coffee and matcha house, announces the opening of its first café in Singapore, located at Changi Airport Terminal 1.

Positioned at the intersection between Terminal 1 and Jewel, the space sits on the landside, allowing both travelers and local visitors to access the café without the need for departure. Designed to serve moments both in transit and in everyday life, the location reflects a new context for the brand while remaining grounded in its core philosophy.

This opening marks VE/LA’s third country, following its debut in London earlier this year, and represents a significant milestone in the brand’s global expansion. It is the first VE/LA café in Singapore, the first airport location, the first 24-hour café under the brand, its first opening in Asia outside of Thailand and Thailand’s first specialty coffee & matcha chain in Changi Airport

It's been a long time coming

Why Singapore, Why Now

Singapore had long been part of VE/LA's international trajectory. After establishing its first overseas presence in London, the brand sought a city closer to home.

"Singapore feels like a place that perfects what it does," says founder Pete Kasidit Prasitrattanaporn. "After London, we knew we wanted our next step to be closer to home. Singapore was always at the top of that list."

The opportunity came through direct outreach from the Changi Airport team. A series of conversations and reciprocal visits between Singapore and Bangkok formed a shared alignment.

"At a certain point, it became clear that there was a strong fit in what we were trying to build together."

Changi Airport, widely regarded as the world's leading airport, sits at the centre of the collaboration. "We choose our locations carefully. This one was a no brainer."

The Location

A Pause Between Worlds

As VE/LA's first airport space, Singapore introduces a new layer to the brand's spatial thinking.

Changi is known for its scale and spectacle. Rather than adding to that intensity, the design was guided by restraint, offering a quieter presence within a highly dynamic environment.

Warm natural wood tones, softened forms, and VE/LA's signature white orchids define the space. The intention is simple. To create something naturally inviting. A place that welcomes you on arrival, sends you off before departure, and draws you back in between. A pause between worlds.

A first

The First 24 Hour VE/LA

The Singapore opening marks the brand's first fully 24 hour operation, designed to function seamlessly across every hour of the day. From early morning departures to late night arrivals, the experience stays consistent, and the menu has been adapted to feel just as appropriate at 9 in the morning as it does at 3 in the afternoon, or 3 in the morning.

"In an airport environment, it's easy to lose the sense of ritual," Pete explains. "Through store design, service design, and menu design, we wanted to make sure that didn't happen."

The result balances speed with familiarity. A space that moves with the pace of the airport, without losing its sense of calm.

The city exclusive

A Familiar Menu, A New Signature

The Singapore menu closely follows the structure introduced in London, streamlined for clarity and consistency. At its core remains VE/LA's signature offering of specialty coffee, matcha, and craft tea, guided by its gradient system that simplifies flavour through time of day storytelling.

Singapore introduces its own exclusive creation, the Kaya Toast Latte, inspired by the region's beloved breakfast classic and reinterpreted through the VE/LA lens. It joins a growing list of location specific signatures, including the Sunny Cold Brew in Bangkok and the Bangkok Latte in London.

Unchanged at the Core

Despite the shift in setting, VE/LA holds a consistent philosophy across all locations. The cups. The coffee. The matcha. The tea. The gradients. The warmth of Thai hospitality. Everything that defines the brand remains unchanged.

"We want VE/LA to feel unapologetically itself, no matter where it goes," says Pete.

As one of the first Thai specialty coffee and matcha chains to enter both the UK and Singapore markets, VE/LA sees itself as part of a wider movement. "We're incredibly proud to be representing Thai specialty coffee on a global stage."

If London was a leap across the world, Singapore feels closer in every sense.

"Singapore has always been a place I've returned to time and time again," Pete reflects. "Weekend trips growing up, quick flights with friends. It's familiar. It's effortless. It's somewhere you go to take a step away without going too far. It's a short flight, but a long time coming."
